There’s something extra special about photographing a maternity session — but when it’s for dear friends you’ve known for years, it hits different. 🥹 I’ve had the absolute honor of documenting Melissa and Jake’s love story from the very beginning: their engagement session, their wedding day, and now… this beautiful new chapter as they get ready to welcome their baby girl. 💕

We met at one of my all-time favorite spots, South Mesa Trailhead, for a golden-hour maternity session that was nothing short of magical. With the Flatirons glowing in the background, the sun dipping low over the foothills, and two people completely over the moon about becoming parents — this session was a dream.

From “I do” to “We’re having a baby!”

Melissa and Jake’s story is one I’ve been lucky enough to capture from the very start. They are the kind of couple who radiate joy — the ones who make you laugh until your cheeks hurt and whose love for each other is just so obvious in every glance.

Watching them step into this new season of life together — hand in hand, full of excitement and love for their daughter — was truly emotional. Moments like these remind me why I love what I do so much. 📸

This Boulder gem has everything: sweeping mountain views, dreamy golden light, tall grasses that catch the sunset just right, and peaceful trails that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a nature-filled fairytale. Whether it’s a maternity session, engagement shoot, or family photos, South Mesa delivers every. single. time.

For Melissa and Jake, it was the perfect backdrop — soft, natural, and timeless, just like the love they already have for their baby girl.

Golden Light, Sweet Moments, and So Much Love

Our session was filled with so many sweet moments — Jake brushing Melissa’s hair out of her face while she laughed, the two of them dreaming aloud about their little girl’s future, and quiet pauses where they simply soaked in this fleeting, beautiful season.

As the sun set behind the mountains, Melissa’s glow (and not just the pregnancy kind 😉) was pure magic. It was one of those evenings where everything aligned — the light, the laughter, and the love — creating photos I know they’ll treasure for a lifetime.
