Samantha and Dale | Monument, Colorado Wedding Photographer

March 26, 2023

Samantha and Dale chose Monument, Colorado for their wedding because it was close to where they grew up.

Hearth House is a gorgeous venue with rustic charm and stunning views. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, making the planning process easy and stress-free. The breathtaking outdoor ceremony was held on their lawn overlooking the stunning Rocky Mountains, while they also have an indoor reception space if it rains (which it did!).

Not too far from anywhere.

Samantha and Dale wanted to get married somewhere that was familiar, but not too familiar. Monument, Colorado is just a short drive from their hometowns, but there are enough differences that it felt like an adventure!

Monument has so much going on in terms of culture, food and activities that you could spend your whole trip here without ever leaving downtown. There are so many great venues within walking distance of each other that getting around town is easy peasy lemon squeezy! Plus there’s no shortage of things to see or do around town either…which makes it super convenient if you want some sightseeing during the day then head back home at night after dinner out or drinks with friends at one of Monument’s many breweries nearby (I recommend Pikes Peak Brewing).

Although there were clouds around the mountain peaks most of our ceremony time, they stayed clear while we were exchanging our vows!

Although there were clouds around the mountain peaks most of our ceremony time, they stayed clear while we were exchanging our vows! The forecast was 60% chance of rain but it was a sunny day with no rain at all. I’m so glad that the weather cooperated with us on this day and it made for beautiful photos at Samantha and Dale’s wedding!

We were lucky enough to get some amazing cloud cover during their reception that lasted until they left at nightfall.

Be ready for anything during your wedding day

I’ve heard a lot of wedding photographers say that they’re not superstitious, but I’m pretty sure that’s just because they don’t want to jinx anything. Most of them have their own little rituals or habits they perform before every shoot (like always putting on the same pair of socks), and some even carry around lucky charms or totems.

As a photographer, there are plenty of things you can do to help ensure your client has an amazing experience on their big day–but sometimes it’s better to leave fate in the hands of chance (or fate). If you happen to get lucky with weather conditions or lighting during photos like these two did, then great! If not…don’t worry about it! You’ll still get some awesome shots no matter what happens outside your control!

Conclusion

If you’re planning a wedding in Colorado, be prepared for anything! We had a beautiful wedding day despite the weather report predicting thunderstorms and rain. Luckily, we were able to enjoy our ceremony with clear skies and warm temperatures at The Hearth House in Monument.
