If you’re searching for how to prepare for a boudoir session, what to wear to a boudoir photoshoot, or what to expect from a Colorado boudoir photographer — you’re in the right place.
First of all — I’m so proud of you.
Booking a boudoir session is a bold, empowering decision. Whether this is a bridal boudoir gift, anniversary surprise, or simply a confidence celebration, this experience is designed to feel elevated, safe, and unforgettable.
As a Colorado boudoir photographer with over 12 years of professional experience, I guide you through every detail — so you never feel awkward or unsure.
What To Wear To A Boudoir Photoshoot
Choosing outfits for your boudoir session doesn’t have to be stressful.
For your boudoir photography session, I recommend bringing:
• 2–4 outfit options (for full sessions)
• A neutral set (black, white, nude tones photograph beautifully)
• One statement piece (bold color, lace, bodysuit, oversized shirt)
• Meaningful items (veil, jersey, button-down, heirloom piece)
• Comfortable undergarments that fit properly
If you’re unsure what to wear, I’ll help style and narrow down your options on arrival.
Pro tip: Try everything on beforehand to make sure it fits and makes you feel confident.
Hair & Makeup For Boudoir Photography
Professional hair and makeup are highly recommended for boudoir sessions. A polished look enhances lighting and elevates your final gallery.
While hair and makeup are not included, I’m happy to connect you with trusted Colorado hair and makeup artists.
If you’re doing your own makeup:
• Go slightly bolder than your everyday look
• Avoid heavy SPF (can cause flashback)
• Set makeup well to prevent shine
How To Prepare Your Skin For Boudoir Photos
A few simple preparation tips:
• Drink plenty of water leading up to your session
• Avoid new skincare products right before
• Wax or shave 1–2 days prior (not the day of)
• Moisturize, but skip heavy body oils right before shooting
• Avoid tight clothing before your session to prevent skin marks
No crash dieting. No extreme routines. Your body is ready exactly as it is.
What To Expect During Your Boudoir Photography Session
If you’re nervous about posing — that’s completely normal.
You do not need experience in front of a camera.
I guide you through every movement, pose, facial expression, and angle. From adjusting your fingertips to directing subtle changes in posture, you’ll never be left wondering what to do.
Your session may include:
• Close, intimate portraits
• Full-body confidence poses
• Editorial-inspired images
• A mix of color and black & white
The environment is professional, private, and intentionally designed to feel safe and empowering. BUT ALSO: this is YOUR session. We can do as little or as much as you want.
After Your Boudoir Session
• Proof gallery delivered within 4–6 weeks
• You select your included images
• Additional images available for purchase
• Premium linen layflat albums available (5×5 and 10×10 options)
• Albums delivered approximately 2 weeks after design approval
Many clients choose to preserve their images in a custom album — especially for bridal boudoir or anniversary gifts.
